The extreme cold has passed, but traces of Erangel: Subzero remain across the map.

Erangel: Subzero-specific items and features have been removed.
All-In-One Repair Kit, Emergency Cover Flare, and Jammer Pack now spawn in Secret Rooms.
The Red Zone and ferries have returned.

Destructible Gas Tanks have been added.

Improved the interior lighting of buildings across the map.
Dev’s comment: With Update 40.1, Erangel returns to its familiar form after two months of abnormal weather. This seasonal change gave us valuable insight into how shifts in a map’s environment can affect combat flow and overall gameplay. We’ll continue building on player feedback to deliver more engaging and varied content going forward.
Update 40.1 introduces balance adjustments to some DMRs.

Damage: 44 → 43
Horizontal recoil increased by approximately 8%.
Horizontal recoil decreased by approximately 4%.
Dev’s comment: This update includes balance adjustments to two DMRs: the Mk12 and the SLR. The Mk12 has been showing an excessively high usage rate compared to other DMRs in Ranked, so we have adjusted its damage and recoil to help ease weapon selection bias in the Ranked environment. At the same time, we have slightly improved the effectiveness of the SLR, which uses 7.62mm ammunition. Through these changes, we aim to broaden weapon choices and encourage a wider range of combat scenarios.
We’ve added and improved various UI elements to help players better track information during combat.

When you pull out or switch a Throwable using a hotkey, a list of your available Throwables and their quantities is displayed in the bottom right of the screen.
Up to six types of Throwables are shown, including the currently equipped one.
Throwables stored in the Tactical Pack are not included in the display.
The inventory list is shown only for a short duration.
Not available in Spectator, Replay, or Observer Modes.
New status icons and visual feedback allow you to check your squad members' status at a glance.

New icons have been added to display key actions performed by squad members, such as healing, reviving, carrying, and swimming.
When interactions occur between squad members, such as healing, reviving, or carrying, the affected squad member’s number is displayed.
These new status icons are shown not only in the squad list at the bottom left of the screen, but also on squad member icons displayed on the World Map and Minimap.
Not displayed in the squad list while in Observer Mode.
New visual effects have been added to the squad list to indicate when squad members are firing.
Firing and damage indicators are also visible while spectating squad members.
Minimap UI and visual effects have been refined to make Blue Zone progression easier to track.
New visual cues now signal 1 minute, 30 seconds, and 10 seconds remaining before Play Area restriction.
UI elements and visual effects indicating the start of Play Area restriction have been enhanced.
New visual effects have been added to indicate phase changes.
Kill and assist information for each squad member can now be viewed through the Team Management UI when accessing the System Menu in all modes.

When using an item, the item icon is now displayed within the timer at the center of the screen.

The flight path of Emergency Pickup planes displayed on the World Map has been changed to grayscale.
When boarding a vehicle, squad member numbers and colors are now displayed on the vehicle UI.
Item pickup messages have been standardized for a more consistent gameplay experience.
Dev’s comment: In this update, we’ve made broad UX/UI improvements to help players read combat situations more quickly and intuitively during gameplay. To support fast-paced and intense firefights, we’ve significantly enhanced visual elements so players can easily track information such as remaining Throwables and squad members’ real-time actions without needing to check additional UI panels. With improvements to the Blue Zone alert UI and the addition of new status icons, our goal is to help players better understand the overall flow of the battleground and coordinate more effectively with their squad for timely, strategic responses.
Improved the animation structure for vehicle drivers and fixed some related issues.

Added

NA & SA: Squad (TPP)
Removed
NA & SA: Squad (FPP)
Dev’s comment: Our goal is to create a unified gameplay experience by connecting Normal Match, Ranked, and esports into a single, cohesive flow. In line with PUBG Esports’ transition to TPP in 2026, we’ve aligned the Ranked environment to ensure that your competitive achievements carry even greater meaning. As part of this change, we’re introducing TPP Duos and Squads in the RU region, while restructuring Ranked queues in the NA and SA regions to focus on TPP Squads, matching the esports standard. Through these adjustments, we hope players can enjoy clearer and more meaningful challenges within the same meta seen in professional competition. Please note that to maintain healthy matchmaking conditions, the availability of party types and perspectives in each region may change dynamically based on player population and matchmaking activity.
